    Team Matrix

    CYBERON 2024

    CyberON is Team Matrix’s flagship event conducted during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, built around the theme “Ethos and Echoes: Securing the Intersection of Humanity and Technology.” The event aimed to raise awareness about ethical responsibility in the digital age and emphasized the importance of securing human interactions in a tech-driven world.

    Speakers

    A major highlight was the panel discussion on “Human-Centric Cybersecurity: The Last Line of Defence,” featuring industry experts Advocate Rajas Pingle, Pankaj Chanekar, Rohitha Chowdary, Rushikesh Nandedkar, and Aalok Karnik, moderated by Sanyogeeta Rananaware. They shared insights on the role of human behavior and ethics in defending against modern cyber threats.

    Challenges and Competitions

    CyberON also hosted four engaging competitions:
    Capture the Flag – A high-energy cybersecurity puzzle-solving contest where individuals race against time to capture flags by cracking challenges.
    Guardian of Cyber Galaxy – A multi-activity team game combining maze navigation, phishing detection, DDoS defense, and final clue decoding.
    Hackscape – A thrilling team-based escape room with escalating point-based cybersecurity puzzles under time pressure.
    Emocrypt – A strategic campus-wide treasure hunt where teams solve riddles, gather emoji-based clues, and outwit opponents within a tight time frame.

    Cyber Jagrukta Diwas (CJD) is a unique and ongoing initiative led by the Team Matrix committee, aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness among various sections of society. Held on a monthly basis (subject to feasibility), this outreach program reflects our strong commitment to creating a digitally safe environment through continuous education and engagement.

    Under this initiative, members of Team Matrix voluntarily visit different communities such as government schools, underprivileged neighborhoods, IT companies, college cleaning staff, and secondary high school students, among others. The sessions are carefully tailored to suit the understanding and needs of each group, making complex cyber concepts simple and relatable.

    Our mission is to ensure that cyber awareness reaches every corner of society, especially those who may not have regular access to such information. By initiating conversations and spreading awareness at the grassroots level, we hope to build a community that is cyber-aware, vigilant, and resilient in the digital age.
    Cyber Jagrukta Diwas is not just an event—it is a movement towards a safer cyberspace, driven by the passion and responsibility of young cyber advocates.

    Bringing Cyber Awareness to the Workplace – AIR Pune Edition

    Team Matrix conducted an informative cybersecurity awareness session at All India Radio, Pune. The session was specially designed for the organization’s middle-aged employees, focusing on essential topics tailored to their day-to-day digital interactions. Key areas covered included the basics of cybersecurity, the importance of strong password management, regular software updates and patching, and awareness of recent cyber scams. Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, the session aimed to empower participants with practical knowledge to safeguard their digital presence and adopt safer online practices. The initiative was well received, highlighting the importance of spreading cyber awareness across all age groups and professional domains.

    During the Cyber Jagrukta Diwas event held on 1st February 2025 at Jilha Parishad Public School, Pune, our team from Matrix conducted an awareness session aimed at educating students from the 6th and 7th grades about the fundamentals of cybersecurity. Around 170–180 students, along with a few faculty members, participated in the session. We focused on explaining the basic concepts of cybersecurity and highlighted common cybercrimes that affect everyday individuals. Using informative charts and posters, we illustrated various types of cyberattacks and shared practical safety tips on how students and their families can stay protected online. The session was interactive and designed to build foundational knowledge and a sense of digital responsibility among the young audience.

    The Cyber Jagrukta Divas (CJD) training session was conducted for final and second-last year commerce students. The session covered crucial insights on protecting oneself in the digital world, with special focus on concepts such as digital arrest and safe online practices. A key part of the session involved an in-depth explanation of cyber crimes in the banking sector, covering threats like insider attacks, outdated security systems, phishing, SIM swapping, and ATM jackpotting. Students were introduced to real-life banking fraud cases, and preventive measures were discussed, including RBI guidelines, the IT Act 2000, and modern cybersecurity standards like PCI-DSS.

    During the Cyber Jagrookta Diwas event, Team Matrix conducted a cybersecurity awareness session for students of grades 10 and 12, focusing on the importance of staying safe in the digital world. The session covered key topics such as identifying cyber threats and scams, best practices for online safety, securing personal data and devices, and understanding phishing, malware, and social engineering attacks. With the support of the school administration and faculty, the team engaged students through interactive discussions and real-life examples to make the concepts more relatable. The initiative aimed to empower young minds with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the online space responsibly and securely.
